Why Anglesey Is a Great Place for a Weekend of Golf

Anglesey is the fifth-largest island surrounding Great Britain, with an area of 275 square miles, located off the north-west coast of Wales. The six golf courses located on this island will provide you with many unexpected and memorable experiences.

Anglesey Golf Club and Rhosneigr are located low by the flat golden sand dunes and have plenty greens and streams. You can test out your aim skills, in order to stay out of the water. Blue Bay is the northernmost golf course. It is located on a spectacular cliff top, with wonderful sea panorama and spectacular view towards mountains of Snowdonia. The challenge is to score into holes situated at different heights.

Storws Wen, a relatively new club gained quick appreciation with its professional outlook and the great views over Snowdonia Mountains and Red Wharf Bay. The Baron Hill is one of the oldest and most challenging. It offers an impressive view over the historic town of Beaumaris.

The Llangefni Golf Course and driving range is set in beautifully mature woodland. It is mostly preferrer by beginners. The Henllys Hall Golf Club is set on an absolutely gorgeous mature parkland.

We suggest you take up two or three different courses for the weekend, to test out various skills, thus having some time to visit important touristic attractions in-between. The Marquis of Anglesey’s Column, situated in the “Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch” village, is worth noted on the map. The longest place name in Europe was invented in the 1860s for promotional purposes. Climb up inside the Waterloo’s senior officer’s column, to reach the viewing platform on top of the hollow monument. On your way out, visit the Beaumaris Castle, significant part of the northern Wales history. We also warmly recommend a short trek path on the Anglesey Coastal, a simple walk on the beach, or trying out some extreme water sports like surfing, wind-surfing and kite-surfing.
