If you’re coming to Dublin but don’t have time for a full 18-hole round of golf, how about visiting one of the local driving ranges to practice your swing? Aside from improving your technique, there’s no better way for a golfer to unwind than whacking a load of golf balls off a tee. Without the pressure of competition or expense of a round, this is the ideal way to hone your skills and work out what you’re capable of.
Here are three of the best driving ranges in or around the fair city of Dublin:
Halpenny Golf is a large retailer with its own driving range and golf centre located close to Dublin airport. Open 7 days a week, the range is lit late into the evening on weekdays (10 PM) and accepts family or group bookings as well as individuals. Club rental is cheap and golf lessons are available to anyone keen to improve their game. This is the ideal place to hit a few balls before or after a flight.
Kinsealy Grange Golf Academy & Driving Range
Opened in 2008, Kinsealy Grange is a popular 45-bay, 2-level driving range situated about 15 kilometres from the city centre. As well as the driving bays, there’s a practice putting green and an area for improving your short game. On-site PGA qualified pros are available for coaching sessions. The well-maintained facilities also include a golf shop and café.
Carr Golf Centre
The Carr Golf Centre at Spawell has excellent facilities, including a 2-tier driving range with 48 indoor bays, 10 outdoor grass bays, 2 teaching bays, and range targets to help sharpen your game. High-quality mats and an advanced ball dispensing machine are also offered. Other features of the centre include an 18-hole pitch & putt course, 2 squash courts, a repair centre, and a well-stocked shop. Golf coaching is also available.
